Hhag live !

Yesterday on the 14th of May, Saw our illustration group exhibiting our magazine work in the butchers market in Wrexham.

Our group Hhag ( Hillyard, Hover, Aldis and Gould ) in case you were wondering what it stood for Put up our display and started off with marking from our tutors on the Friday. Liking it and also suggesting different ways we could put it together such as poster style books it was pretty positive feedback, and from there we were all pretty positive we made the right decision in our idea.

Next Day was open to the Butchers market crowd who i must admit didn't really grasp the concept of coming in to have a look, But steadily over the day we had interest from people and a few people took some of the miniature pictures that Daisy ( Who definitely should get major props for everything she contributed to this project =D ) Printed.
Also feedback from other independent artists that were in there promoting their own work.
The major thing for me was seeing people laugh at the pictures we created and want to take some of it with them, Kind of a confidence boost i must say as I'm never convinced any thing i do people would want, but a hand full of people proved me wrong.
A small success i think a very different day of something I've never done before and would happily do it again (but on my terms of work.)

Well done Group once more.

Animation Lecture talk

On Thursday we were given a talk by Clair Fouquet ( ClaireFouquet.com ) a very Good animator who knows her stuff very much, Flying in or training in from Anguleme Claire spoke about herself and animations shes worked on

unfortunately i don't think their up on Youtube but they were called

' Honey have a look here. ' Short animation about a women who sees little people in every corner of her house  like a scuba diver in her drink Etc etc. Very nicely done

' Le chien Sur Le toit. ' This was a much longer one which i believe took her 4 years to complete it's about people who are ruled by black Biro's and basically if they step out of line their colours are sucked from them by these evil Biro's. Until a mass group rise up and protest against them. Was very good all done in Water colour very beautiful. also kind of rekindled my interest in becoming an animator i must admit.

Next up she pretty much told us the Major pro's Of pre production work...Scripts, Sounds, Character Desgins, A very very define storyboard that you will not change and Your Graphic bible.

As i say a very interesting talk Check out her site. admiration for any one that can talk for 4 hours or so.

Something very different and potentially very beneficial.

Ok so at the beginning of this week we were visited by some tutors from the polish school of art and design in Poland

They brought with them a new brief which is very interesting based on proverbs and linking the English proverbs to the Polish proverbs.

This will be working with the Polish/Japanese institute in Warsaw and the Academy of Art in Katowice To produce a book of illustrations using black white Grey scale and a colour of our choosing.

The proverb i was given (In the lottery.) Was

'Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.'

'Miedzy, Mtotem a Kowaldlem.' (The Polish version)

Which translated Means
'Between the Hammer and the Anvil.'

So using these i can take the imagery they give and create an illustration which could be put in a book and published around the world, or at least Europe pretty exciting. Definitely need to bring my A game shall keep you posted.
